I posted this in the Racing Section, but afterwards, I figured it might get seen more in this area.

This is my #909 '92 Escort GT. I built it for the Grassroots $2007 Challenge (for less than $700).
Didn't make it to the Challenge, but it was ready. I couldn't get away from work for long enough to make it to FLA and back to NJ.
But I've been doing wheel-to-wheel racing in it since last year anyway. I ran a 4-Hour enduro in it at Summit Point last Fall, plus Lime Rock and Pocono. It's been great fun to drive.
I also have an Austin Healey Sprite vintage racer.

Anyway, here's some vid clips from #909 at the NASA event last weekend at Pocono (north course).

The first short clip (30 seconds) shows a BMW 2002 passing me and then spinning off.

He came sort of close to rolling it just as I re-passed him.
You can hear a bunch of stones and dirt that he has kicked up hitting my car at that moment.
What you can't see are the two Miatas in the rear of me spinning every which way.
One Miata clipped the 2002 and damaged his fuel cell.

The Beemer pilot is a good guy and a friend....I was kidding him about this afterwards. He ran home (to LI) and got a replacement fuel tank and ran the next day.

This a longer clip of the general action of a NASA sprint race:

Cool stuff!! How fast did you get up to on that long stretch?

Man I really want to get a GT.

    Not sure....maybe 110 to 115 or so?

More accurately I got to 7000 RPM in fourth gear with 205/60 X 14" Toyo RA1 (DOT race tires).

I ditched the speedo drive when I converted it to a five speed (it was my sis-in-laws automatic commuter car...she gave it to me).

Sounds like it was a real project! I thought it was a souped up GT.
