My first car was a '91 blue GT. Loved that thing and got 350k plus miles out of it. Regret getting rid of it all the time. However, I just pulled the trigger on a '92 GT. It's gonna need some help, and so am I, getting it back (as close as I can) to it's original glory. Looking forward to being a member of this forum. I'm hoping there's lots of good info here.

Yes, here are a couple photos the seller posted. I've only taken a few myself but it was still on a car dolly riding back to PA with me to prove to my friends I went thru with the purchase. As you can see, I'm in need of front/rear bumper covers which, it seems are nearly impossible to find... which I didn't realize. I also need to do something about a headliner (fabric is completely gone) and I'd like to get some OEM rims back on it. 1st things first, I ordered a reman MAF from Amazon to see if it'll even run. Oh, one other thing, is that sometime along it's 30 year life, someone removed the auto-seatbelts and replaced them with the "regular" ones. I personally like the regular ones better, but darn, I wanted the full-auto shoulder belt experience! I'm thinking trying to replace or repair those is going to be harder that finding bumpers, so it's very low on the list at this point.

On a side note, the seller said these tan/gray ones seem pretty rare. Personally, I've never seen one. Is this a factory color that you're aware of? Is there any info on how many GT's were built in each model year?

Welcome to FEOA! Nice looking car ('cept for the bumpers). Whereabouts are you in PA? I'm near Philly. A salvage yard near me had a '91 GT a month ago, no bumpers (I got the rear which has a couple of cracks and the front was a total loss), maybe they still have it, 215/295-7610. As far as headliners go, checkout Stock Interiors in Florida, they have material and kits, just don't use the adhesive they sell, get 3M adhesive from Advance Aute Parts.

@Mark Eric Roth thank you, it's great to finally be here. Yeah, and naive me thought I could just slap some new ones on there and be good to go! I'm from the other side of PA, NW of Pittsburgh so that's a bit of a drive. Thanks for the tip on the headliner!

Oh yes, Get to know who your local salvage yards are and call them once a month or so, second gen Escorts still turn up pretty frequently, just not DOHCr's. Feel free to pull those auto harness, they are easy to pull out and I haven't got one that didn't work yet! The ones that don't work seem to come with cars attached. I grew up with 3 point harness's and the separate seat belt/harness on the Escort is a throwback to the 1960's to me. I've learned to wait to exit the car until the 'mouse' is clear of my head (ouch), but not to always buckle my seat belt. But how many cars have power shoulder harness's?

Oh! Yeah I'm new here; I'll catch on! Are they the rims below? I'm not clear on what type of rim came on which 2nd Gen model Escorts, but I do know the rims below where the ones I had on my '91 GT, and those are the ones I'm looking for. Is this what you have, are they in good shape, do you have center caps, and where are you located? Feel free to PM me!
