Just looking at come cars that were on the Auto Trader, the thing is that it was dealers listing the cars at this, not sure if they are even still on there, it was a while back, but I just thought about it again. Just making sure that I was right! But if you wanna check, just go to www.autotrader.ca and check out the 96 escorts, that's what they were under about a week ago.

I have a 1996 Escort Repair manual. It is a genuine Ford manual and covers every aspect of the 1996 Escort (both LX and GT) In the front, it gives you a breakdown of the VIN number of model year 1996. It will lsit two engines. 1.8L and 1.9L. The manual shows you a breakdown on the engines. It only lists two engines. a 1.8L and a 1.9L.
Ford should know what engines they produced for the model year 1996. According to them, the only two engines were available. 1.8L and 1.9L. There is no 2.0L listed.
