The car jumps to the left or right when letting go of or giving it gas...

tire pressure is ok...and the car handles decent if I dont let off the gas

the car has been in an accident but doesnt look like it has frame damage or irregular tire wear...

I suspect the engine mount(s) or transmission mount.

I dont want to toss lots of money into the car to bandaid the problem or buy the wrong parts and waste money or band aid anything, please give me your thoughts

also how hard are the engine and transmission mounts to change on this car

check your struts and shocks make sure they aren´t weak and crappy...if it´s misaligned and you give it gas, it´ll fly off in a certain sideways direction. My car needs new struts and an alignment. I don´t see how an engine mount would have anything with the way your car handles....

ok...I will do these things and thank you....I still figure that the weight of a loose motor or tranny would cause the car to float in one direction or other due to weight transfer....maybe you are right?

thanks

Well pulling to the right when accelorating is somewhat normal it is commonly referred to as torque steer, but the pulling to the left when you let off is some what scary.I would deffinitely be looking at allignment or suspension. In particular I would check the tie rod end links and all the bushings then the shocks and the towers pop the caps and make sure the uots are tight, and that there´s nothing bent or broken.

If everything else checks out, then take a look at your strut mounts.. look for any cracking in the rubber and then jump up and down on the fender to get the car to rock and watch for excessive movement of the strut top.
Hope that helps.

Actually most common cause of irregular pull. like, the steering wheel is cocked left but pulls right, then changes as you drive down the road is usually called bumpsteer. Its common to happen from worn tierod ends and balljoints that are bad.
