Hello, I have 91` 1.9lit Pony with manual transm. I need more power so why not engine swap? I heard that escort and mazda can be sometimes similar so whta type of engine I can put in my car. Transmision will stay the same. I need engine type and form what car I can get it? Thanks[/b]

No. It wont fit. Your best bet is to get a 3rd generation 2.0 like Jeff said (that being the SPI, not the Zetec motor) and drop it in. Everything will bolt right up to the 2.0.

The upside is you'll have a basic sleeper on your hands and you should hopefully realize that: 110 hp >>> 88 hp :wink:

The downside...you'll start to think of ways to build that 1.9L and get antsy about it like I would. :D

I think a Zetec would fit the 1.9 lx tranny, you would have to reuse the 1.9 flywheel and itty bitty tiny clutch...see where I'm going with that.

But thats the easy part, the 1.9 tranny is pretty strong and there is good clutches for them, but you will have to swap all the electronics and fuel system. That is why the SPI is such a nice swap, take out old motor put in new and your done.
