At least it feels that way. This is the scenario....Ya know that squeaky sound the bed makes when you handling your business with your woman? The sound the bed makes not the sound your lady makes. Anyway, when downshifting at slower speeds...say around 20mph, that sounds comes from the engine compartment along with what feels to be a rocking back and forth. Stepping on the accelerater eliminates it. I replaced the 2 motor/trany mount that are attached to the crossmember during the summer. The mount near the front passenger tire seems to be ok. Ive removed it a cpl times for different reasons. Any thoughts?

Got something rubbing the fender/firewall when the motor/tranny moves some?

Come to think of it, my friends tracer makes that same noise. Its all in the clutch pedal though. When you push it in or let it out it squeaks about half way through the travel (just like a bed) but I'm sure its just the spring or whatever returns the pedal to ready position rubbing around a bit.

yes i have a thought....... i am glad it is the sound the bed makes because the sound my wife makes is laughter... though, if my car laughed at me it would just be par for the course.

really though is it a squeak or is it a creaking? does it ever pop?

Took awhile for someone to lay-in a couple of jokes. :)

In well over 200k, only thing I've ever had squeak on this car is the outer CV joints. (clutch pedal and brake pads/shoes aside) Check for torn boots. It may be possible that minor shifts in weight change CV angles enough and in a specific enough way that it begins to create the noise. On a side note, I rarely ever use my clutch and engine to slow though. Only exception being on icy/slippery terrain during the Winter.

So you have never felt a jerking type motion in 200k? This might be a job for the shop. I know the clutch pedal squeaks when i push down on it, but its a different noise than what im hearing when the car seems to be rocking forwards and backwards. How can you tell if the mount under the battery tray is bad? I know taking if off and examining it is the best way to tell, but what are symptoms?

It is a creaking sound. Its different than the mouse squeaks my clutch pedal makes.

i would say check out you lowwer control arm bushings as well as your sway bar bushings and links.

you might only be hearing the creak at low speed and while slowing is due to road wind and engine noise at higher speeds making is harder or impossiable to hear.
