I had taken my ford escort with manual transmission to a mechanic for a test drive and he revved up the engine like crazy!! He almost touched 35-40 m/hr in the 1st gear and a couple of minutes of such crazy driving and i had to tell him to handle my baby with care :x

Its still with the mechanic and i will be getting the car only tomorrow afer the change of clutch.

I hope the high engine rmp has not done damage to my engine and tranny 8O

rev limiters are made for one purpose to stop the motor before it revs to high and blows. so reving up a bit every once in a while it will be ok. jsut daily driving it like that is bad for it. its liek 1+1 =2 well if you keep adding on to 2 with 1 it will start to destroy things.

yeah, if you think you can get a discount or some freee work, report him to his boss. if not, it didn't do anything to your engine.

thanks for the comforting remarks...well i got the car back but the guy severed the exhaust pipe from the muffler and wont reimburse it back!! Says it was about to come off since it was rusty anyways. Doesnt seem that i can get some money back from him.

So have to go to a muffler guy tomorrow and get that repired!! :x
Hoping it could be mended without muh $$$

Dont ever take your car to him again. And let all your friends know how bad a mechanic he is.

it wasnt broken when it went in, if it came out broke, its his fault.

there are laws that say the car is his/the shops responsibilty while its in his possession.

besides, a clutch install? you just spent no doubt hundreds of dollars with this guy, and not his competitors, least he could do was weld a bead on your exhaust pipe.
