I was wondering where i would get new berrings and stuff from for when i rebuild. I didnt know if there was a rebuilding kit that i could get that had all the gaskets and berrings and stuff like in it or if i have to go some other route to get all the stuff. I plan on starting my rebuild within atleast the next month so i am trying to get all the parts and stuff. Thanks for the replys.

I plan on rebuilding too. Here´s my ideas.
~I´m going to have the block dipped in acid (to clean it), then honed and bored probably .030 over. If I can, I want to try for a stroke of 4.0. I´m going to go ahead and call JE Pistons to get a custom set of pistons. Hopefully I´ll be able to drop my compression ratio to 8.5:1.
~Next will be my crankshaft, I´m going to have it cleaned, lightened and balanced.
~On to the heads. New valves, lifters, springs and new cams with slightly higher lift duration...along with AEM Adjustable cam gears to advance/retard timing.
~I´m going to check on prices for a port and polish of my upper and lower intake runners. I´m getting a new throttle body which I´m going to see if it can be bored out a little extra to make room for more air.
~A custom bent cold air intake will be placed on afterwards.
~I´m buying a GTX manifold from corksport for 180 bucks on which I´m either going to have them find an IHI RB5 turbo and have it rebuilt (for safety reasons) OR I might just have my new brother in law build me a turbo from scratch to fit it onto that GTX manifold. (Depends on which route will be cheaper)
~I´m getting another transmission which I want to tear apart, and take to a shop and have them build me beefier, and somewhat shorter gears. A more durable input/lay/output shafts and I´m dropping on a B&M short throw shifter.
~EGTdude is also working on a custom exhaust for me, a single pipe back to a muffler which then feeds twin exhaust pipes with stainless steel tipping, which will come out my new rear bumper from onderground design ;-)
~I´ll try to find a shop that does custom ECUs with re-programmable chips.

Hopefully after all this is done I´ll have an Escort GTX pushing (at least) 250 hp, 250 lb ft torque out and will give Buick Regal GS´s and Grand Prix GT(P)s a run for their big 3.8s. (yeah i turned my attention on them once I was murdered by a Regal GS. hehe ;-)

There´s a shop up north that made a stroker crank for the Miata 1.8, that with an overbore increased displacement to 1995 cc´s. Flyin´ Miata has the car and they added a turbo system to put down a maximum of 377 hp and 377 torque. It´s in an older issue of Grassroots Motorsports. I´ll get the info if you´re interested.

Uh James, if you want to stroke it out to a 4.0 inch stroke, you need a different crank. stroke is determined by the crank. if you want a longer stroker you have to get another crank.

Yeah, I typed that this morning and then got to thinking about it today. I knew someone would contradict me there. I take that part back, I´m not going to stroke it. ;-)

I´m in the midst of a rebuild myself. I bought most of the standard stuff from Advance Auto Parts. For performance upgrades:
forged AE Clevite pistons from a shop in Allentown, PA
pulley and flywheel from NOPI
cams and clutch from CorkSport
port/polish by my cousin

Misc: head bolts from Ford dealership, engine paint from Eastwood Company

i wouldnt recommend installing a lightened pulley...chances are, the pully ur gettin is gonna be real light...only problem with this is this...it wont have a harmonic balancer..meaning ur crap is gonna be vibratin the crap out of the engine after a few thousand miles...which in turn will cause the crank bearings to go out again..so if ur wantin to keep the rebuild from happening again...look specifically for a pullly that advertises a "harmonic balancer"

Weren´t EGT axles to begin with - it was a Miata short block with Kia head in a Miata RWD configuration. Same 1.8 engine as ours, stroked to 2.0 and turbo´d, but in a Miata body.

That´s gotta be something awesome. IF it could be made to work in a FWD platform, having almost 400 ponies in a lightweight vehicle. If I remember right, theirs was ´aggressively´ tuned, but not maxed out. Incredible.
