I am having a Service Engine Light on my Ford Escort ZX2 Model 2000

The Error gave me a code PI 744
Which no One can seem to answer what it means

Appreciate any help any one can offer

is your car an automatic? that trouble code is for a torque converter clutch (TCC) not engaging.

Also could that cause the Car to Shake when going up hills where shifting would be required ?

I would guess your transmission is on borrowed time.

So I would probably have to have a new transmittion put in and how much do those average in price ?

new, rebuilt, or used? a new one is probably $2500, if they are even available. a rebuilt one is probably $1500. used ones can be had as cheap as $150, but for that price it's not going to have any warranty, and it's probably a guessing game if it will last any period of time.

i'm having to buy a used trans for my escort, since well it doesn't like 1st or 2nd gear anymore, shakes alot and doesn't put much power down at all

so yeah, i'm playing the guessing game already
