So Dave bought him self a Escort GT ... it had a slippy clutch .. no big deal. Well , it all started with a routine dis-assembly ( i had just replaced the transmission an clutch in my swapped LX an we couldn't have asked for a smoother car to do it on ) The Axles nuts were quite stiff but hte driver side did not want to budge ( tried large impact guns , breaker bars with insane pipes on them ) so we opted to just take the whole spindle an shaft together. Well ANY one who has done a clutch job on an escort knows its an absolute P.I.T.A not to mention you have a lingering worry about 4 very important bolts that MUST come off with out issue. These would be the 4 main Engine/Transmission Cross member bolts. breakage of any 1 of these can impend immense frustration and grief not to mention the greatly added cost if your not equipped to deal with such a problem. I had 2 of the Front bolts break ( these 2 are attached to the lower rad support and the welded nuts are enclosed ) now im going to leave you folks with that lil tid bit for now an see how many of you come up with a solution to this problem. Q: If you had the 2 front bolts that hold your eng/trans cross member break what would you do to remount that cross member ?
