I found a ecu from a 91 1.9 at Fed. I swapped it out with my car which is egr equipt. The goal is to remove the egr. I did a temp plug on egr just to get the car started. I started it and it ideled just right. When I shift it drops down if I put it in rev. In drive it stays pretty much like at idle.

When driving on test run, the tranny would not shift. I also noticed that when I shifted back to park after the run, car kinda stalled and then normalized.

Do I have to get a 95 ECU Fed so it will work right or could it just be a bad ecu?

Thanks

egr removal will gain you little to nothing. theres more to ecu swaps than just the years... pin layouts changed along with programing. i believe the 91s had a standalone trans computer, newer pcm's ahve the trans program built in to it. you need to find a pcm from the same or close year

That's for the response. I dug deeper into the ecu for this gen. And you are on point. there are about 8 different ECUs for 91-95 auto/stand. variations. I wil try to get one that is in the range for my year.

i tryed removing the intake manifold from my 91 w/ no egr, its like it was welded on or something & i beat the heck out of it with a rubber mallet with no go and said forget it, didnt want to break anything. didnt exaclty need it out so i backed out. alot easier to pull the bolts for it & no egr to screw with so i can't complain there.
