Anyone install one of these? Price seems incredible for the thoroughness of it.

I'll approve this for now, because I want to laugh at it. escort turbo kit, mkay. Going to wager right now that manifold they have in the kit aint the right one.
Also you’d still need a stand-alone ecu megasquirt is preferred that’s another $300-$700 depending on which one you get.
You’re better off getting a universal kit for $600 and making a turbo exhaust manifold. Just my 2cents

Um, how much? 🤔🙄😳😂😏😉🤫
$1400 is way to much for a cheap ass eBay turbo kit. If you’re serious you’ll realize custom fabrication is required for turbo on these cars. You can be boosted for $1000 with universal turbo kit and megasquirt. But the gains you’ll see with the 1.9 don’t justify even doing it. Yeah you’ll make “”maybe 180hp”” but lose alot of the reliability that little 1.9 has to offer!
Personally, I feel that's a great price, considering all the components provided. I figure, with 5 lbs. of boost, it would provide as much HP and more torque than a stock DOHC. I love the header style compressor mount, oil cooler, two additional cooling fans, adj. FP regulator, battery relocation parts, etc., etc., etc. I can't imagine obtaining ALL the parts listed for close to what that package is selling for.
Also be aware, as I'm proof, the transmission in these cars do not like wheel hop nor do they like hard launches, you'll shatter them if you decide to get dumb with it. I was at 114hp with all motor modiciations and I was breaking them, a turbo kit, if you do not do anything with the transmission is not going to live very long.

US $1,491.13
price is right there on the "turbo listing" ebay link.

Is that a second gen problem? I dump the clutch on my EXP a lot.

I was responding to the original, "Going to wager right now that manifold they have in the kit aint the right one" reply to my post. Not only does it fit, it's a header design.

Wheel hop is a significant problem with 2nd gen Escorts, and 2nd gen Explorers in the dirt.

it's a bad problem on the 2nd gen, plastic pinion and spider gears... I finally bit the bullet couple of years before I got rid of the car and had a gear set made for it, I really put a bit of money into that 1.9 and tranny, why... because I was tired of the honda guys lol. but that car had hell and back because of a few people in my life and the car got abused hard because of my stress and rage. I could of saved that car from the crushers, it ran, it well "drove" still when I had to get rid of it, ugh and now I can not find one in my price range for sale... locally

I've never heard of "plastic" transmission gears. Guess that means weak ones? Does anyone know if a limited slip diff or other ring and pinion ratios exist among 2nd gen Escorts? I did put 15" alloys with 195/50's to get the speedo spot on. I worked as an ASE Master Tech for decades, primarily on Asian and European vehicles. Although I loved my 260Z, Pulsar NX, Tercel and air-cooled VW's, my Mazda Ford has been a joy to own and play with. You know, except for popping the LH axle out of. 😉🤫

Mahap the plastic reference is old-tech, that is now new-tech: "Feb 4, 2022 — Plastic gears molded of Vestakeep polyetheretherketone (PEEK) from Evonik are being used in automobile transmissions." What the hell... plastic manifolds and plastic radiators, et al crapola around for years!
The "Engineers" will spec and build a vehicle Prototype with correct Design and Parts capable of running for 15+ years. Always. THEN... the bean-counters/accountants arrive, and start chopping costs. Thas how cars end up costing MFGs huge Warranty Costs and Lemom Lawsuits, Lucy....
that 'kit' has a 1.8 manifold, not compatible with a cvh. plus, you will need to add another 1500 in fuel management and ecu tech.

Well the speedometer gears in my Escort transmission are plastic.
plastic pinion and spider gears

Frist gens only have plastic speedo gears.
I had a former member here help me rebuild the last one I put into the car, he was confused as I was on the plastic gearing we found. but he's not been around in over 10 years.

"Stainless" is likely low grade, thin wall. If you're in the rust belt, the parts exposed underneath the vehicle will probably rust-out in about 12 months.

Why do you think it's for the DOHC? I've talked to the site owner, asking about obtaining the system with a smaller turbo (N/A) and he seemed knowledgeable enough to know the difference. Also, I don't think Escorts were offered with the Mazda motor before the second generation. You can easily communicate with them via the site, if you're curious.
