So i did not want to keep looking for a stock one from ford, so i went online and bought one with an adjustable height.

the one i bought was a at http://www.ebay.com/itm/GREY-ARMRES...ash=item2f053a91ac:g:2RIAAOSwKflZOwDx&vxp=mtr

Since the height of the armrest itself without the adapters worked great for me, i choose to install it directly by placing the bottom cover on top of the square hole thingy and drilled a couple of screws to make the unit secured.

on the pics you will see the unit installed and also the add-on adapters to make it fit even over a cupholder if you wish to. whole install for me was like 10 minutes.
also here is a hot tip. Offer the guy 25 and see what he says. depending on his mood that day you can get a deal, otherwise its 40 bucks.

the armrest comes with a bunch of screws that work fine but i used my own screws to install mine, the item seems pretty good quality and its solid as long as you install it properly.

    Thoughts?

    here are the pics. 20170916_193528.jpg 20170916_193528.jpg 20170916_193451.jpg 20170916_193752.jpg 20170916_193451.jpg 20170916_193436.jpg 20170916_193458.jpg

I might be wrong but that reminds me of a Probe or mx6 armrest. Waaay back in the day of me spending all day in the JY see what I could swap over I think I tried that one.
You can make just about anything work.
The 3rd gens are hard to find, always have been, iirc they were only a dealer installed option and I few I've seen and pulled from JYs the Ford techs just poked holes with a small screwdriver it looked like to make the mount holes because I don't believe they came already drilled.
Anyway, I think I still have one of those OEM units in storage, hard to tell what it looks like now after all these years lol

I prefer the actual ford dealer installed armrest. I have 4 of them yet, one in each car and two as spares.

lol, It never even crossed my mind to consult the ford dealer price for the zx2 armrest. How much did you spend on each armrest for part and labor?

They aren't available from the dealer anymore. All the ones I have I found in the junkyard.

I cannot find this armrest on eBay, and your link is dead. Any chance you could help me locate an active listing of this armrest? It would be much appreciated

hey, shame that they took it out, but i believe that i found a better and cooler design. Check out this https://www.ebay.com/itm/US-Walnut-...ash=item5b429b8b83:g:zJIAAOSwAAVZbXkS&vxp=mtr or this https://www.ebay.com/itm/US-Walnut-...ash=item5b429b8b83:g:zJIAAOSwAAVZbXkS&vxp=mtr

you might wanna measure the space clearance as the posting indicates but i believe this should have a solid stronger foundation than the method i used to install it. ( i ended up having to drill screws through the base because my previous set up through the "tongue" broke due to my dumb ass putting too much side pressure on it. lol . let me know how it goes. So far i love mine.

Have you found the solution? Because I have changed a lot of armrests in my cars but I have never faced this problem

Curious to see how you mounted the one in your link and what it looks like. I have a couple of the factory ones and will probably install it but I'm curious as to how you mount it and what it looks like. The cupholder feature is what I'm most interested in as the factory one doesn't have cupholders.

I'm planning on getting a "universal" armrest on Amazon for $35 here pretty soon. It's black, and a reviewer said it fit in a Zx2, so I'll post some pics and a link once I've got it in. It doesn't add cupholder though...
