Did some reading that will not work that trans in your picture came on completely different motor (2SELC)

The trans you’d need to do the swap can be found in
  • 1999-2003 Toyota Avensis diesel 1cd
  • 2002–2009 Toyota Camry
  • 2002–2008 Toyota Solara
  • 2008–2014 Scion xB
  • 2009–2012 Toyota Corolla (E140) XRS
  • 2009–2013 Toyota Matrix XR
  • 2005- 2010 scion tc (shorter 5th gear)

Thanks for looking it up. I'm tempted to get the transmission because the guy's selling it so cheap, and giving away a bunch of stuff. I think he just doesn't want to see it go to scrap.
But I'll accept that it's not suitable for the Escort.
I only plan to slightly hop up a 2 liter CVH engine, so the stock transaxle hopefully will be okay. I'm not going to race it.

I'm okay with the stock transmission, but it's too bad for other guys who were hoping to do modifications.
It seems that a lot of stuff was available for these cars for a few short years, then it all went out of production. A good reminder that if we see a neat aftermarket item for our cars, Escort or other, to buy it and not hold off.
Most likely one can resell the item on ebay in future years if it isn't needed, and it's good to support the vendors who do step up and make neat stuff for our cars.
