*Passes high an e-beer and drinks quietly in the corner with him*
*motions for an e-beer from yodders*
I might understand some of it, but that doesn't mean I want to argue any of it. let's just drink to their digital peeing match!
How do you guys feel about the wireless internet??? It's for the people that are not close enough to a DSL line, but it's suppose to be just as fast as DSL and it's the same price... you just have to spend about $200-$300 in parts.
One of my coworkers has that over in Eastern WA. He says he usually is running about 3Mbps. So based on that I'd say it's great but it kinda depends on how far you are from the transmitter.
i got dual 3Meg cable lines and they rock. i dont cared if its shared bandwidth, there must not be alot of people on my node becuase i never had speed issues. Im running dual lines becuase ones a eticated business line and i got a graeat deal on it. and there was a sale going on 4 months later so i got a second line so now the uploads are supper fast. onyl payign 60 a month for both lines, not to shabby.

james have you been thru the cisco program? have you ever heard of VICA before?
I only took one semester of Networking, I don't recall hearing about VICA.
cisco was sweet. althought i didnt finish it because HS is gay and i descided to take ap chem instead the last 2 years.
the vica program is a deal where groups from schools compete against eachother... comp maintance, store operations, networking/cisco, media, manufacturing.. me and my comp maint/cisco group took 1st place in state 2 years in a row, it was sweet. the whole thing was payed for..
one of the competitions was to put a cpmputer together from a stack of random parts and have it running in the fastest time. it took me 6 min to have the thing together and have the 98 install running.. thats how we won the first year.
DSL > Cable (DSL pings better on games)
I use limewire. It rox my sox. Never had any luck with bit torrent.
well it really depends the location of the game server and your isp. i use to have dsl here then switched to cable, then to dual cable and when i had my first cable line i pinged better than my dsl line, with dual cable not better but still better than dsl. I play Battlefield 1942 and usually play the same servers, im well below 100ms on cable, DSL was betweem 90-200ms not much differnce but still cable is better for me.
Another thing that hasn't been mentioned yet is it also depends on the level of service you've subscribed to.
Thats what I got, I downloaded those bass songs off of it.
Just redone my laptop with my new modem. Aparently the old one had issuses with the company's new upgrades.

haha I've never seen a DSL line faster than a Cable line. Never. But hey, I'm glad you're happy with what you have... and it's probably cheaper too.
I always see DSL faster... but cale is cheaper here... strange how these things work!
You must have crappy cable companies then.
Canadians do everything backwards...
my connection is so slow that it wont even test 8O
dial up pwens me
well, i can imagine that you're probably not very close to any game servers lol out in wisconsin that is. with my dsl, i usually ping around 20-30 on servers that are located in like, illinois and on JKII, I ping about 100 on a server that is located in germany. i only have a 1.2mbps dsl, and my laptop isn't that great even.
My DSL is only a 1.2mbps line, and we pay $20/month for it. I play games online with my buddy that lives a few blocks away. He has a 3.0mbps Cable line. I ping better on the same server. I'm definitely happy with it. It never lags. I get good download speeds on limewire, can't complain.
