anybody here played the aplha leak of doom3? I know it´s been out a while and I´ve had it a while, but I just dug up doom3 when I was cleaning out my system and I figured you guys may want to take a look at it because it´s so freaking awesome looking.

And yes, these are actual in-game screenshots taken off my machine:

The pics are all quite large, so bear with me, but I edited down my favorite just because it looks so wonderfully painful: (warning, this is not suitable for little children)

And here are some more screens for you to feast your little beady eyes on: (make sure to check out the arm hair on my character in the 4th pic)
Pic of the hallway
Pic of some reactor core thing
Me using the reactor core laptop
Shot of what I look like in the game

enjoy!

lol juggernaut... apparently your children speek L337! I could definetly imagine you and your kids playing in a lan game and you being accused of being an 31337 h4X0R!!11 1´M 90nn4 R0x0r jo0r |30x0rZ!!1

Anyway... the machine you´ll need to run it is pretty outstanding. I´ve run it on top of the line 4,000+ dollar falcon northwest machines and it´s still a little rough on the edges. I´m planning on upgrading my system when it comes out to the latest geforce (probably will be the GeFX w/ 8X AGP) and then of course I´ll need a new mobo and a couple grand to build a new system.

Doom3 will singlehandedly push the computing industry, but I can´t wait till I can play a counter-stike mod online in doom3... that will be the day, guys..

As for release date, here´s what doom3.dk sez:
They explain to us that Doom3 will launch "in the 2004 fiscal year." Which IGN interprets in their summary into between April 2003 and March 2004. But after asking around a bit and looking it up, a fiscal year is at 93% of the times from the first of January to the last of December. This is worrying to say the least.
So it may be a while, but hopefully will be worth the wait. The e3 demo maps I have are simply amazing... organic shapes galore, super detailed textures... the whole lighting and mapping system has been re-written and is mush more efficient than anything we´ve had before, even though it is extremely intensive.

And by "check out the arm hair on my character in the 4th pic", I mean:
this pic.

By my character, I mean the guy you play as (I dunno if it´s still the old-skool jay "biz" wilbur, but it´s the same old doom guy, just totally revamped.)

And I´ve got the alpha leak... it was the demo that Id (the guys who make doom3- pronounced "ihd") used at the E3 convention, so there are some weird holes in the maps and such, but some very cool things going on.

Sure, it´s 342MB so catch me on instant messenger sometime tonight (my SN is "badcolumn") and I´ll send it over.

It´s triple compressed though, (.ta, .rar, .zip) so it takes a little while for the compression algorithm to decompress it all, and then after that you have to manually bind all your controls and basically interface the game in text mode until it´s up and running, but I can help you with that.

What kind of system are you running? This EATS your ram... you´ll need at the very least 256MB... it runs best on high mem systems... 1024MB is pretty good for it. A fast video card is a must too... GeForce 2 or equivalent at the very least... and it helps to have a fast processor... definetly over 1.2GHz.

lol the first thing everyone notices about my case is that goddamn volcano7 sink grille.

it´s like they don´t even care about the hard work I put into building the case :)

the thing that´s unique about my case is the top cutout... I haven´t seen a ton of cases with the top cut.

Hey, my computer´s got allot unique about it. It´s the only one I know of that´s got a biohazard symbol cut into the side, two inlet fan holes at the bottom of the case, and a blowhole with an adjustable speed fan in the top of the computer sucking out the hot air.

Also, I just customized a friends´ keyboard to where it glows from underneath the keys. The keyboard is kinda complex, but I´ve never seen it done my way before, maybe I´ll post pictures if I can find my digi-cam.
