We're way overdue for a poll.

The other day, I responded to a question, only to have Jeff tell me I was completely out to lunch. So I began to think, well...how often when people ask questions, do they actually end up being helped?

It seems to me that there are always some dumb/incorrect answers thrown out and some correct ones. For example, to every question, marclar answers, "MAF" or "Megasquirt", regardless of the question. Sooner or later, his answer will be correct...it's a matter of probability. He could just as easily say, "Pink Umbrella" and eventually he'd be right with that answer too.

So I ask you, how helpful is the resource base here at FEOA? In other words, how often is the person asking the question directed to the correct answer?

i definately trust these forums. every problem i have had with my car and posted about, i have had help with. not all of it has turned out to be 100% correct, the trick is not doing the very first thing someone suggests. leave the post up for a bit, wait for some common answers to pop up, and ask them questions.

hooray for the forums!

I love the forums my car wouldnt even be running if it wasnt for this site, Ive learned how to remove the door panel, the window crank which I would have never figured out. Learned how to install my intake. Install my o2 sensor and find products for my car. I bet half the people on the website wouldnt even think it was possible to have a fast, nice escort if it was for this site.

No fair, you made that sig up!!!!!
I'm gonna say the 50% because I have seen people answer and be wrong, but I can't speak for the past few months because it's all turbo stuff and I wouldn't know if it is right or wrong.

someone will come around and correct the misinformation eventually.
exactly
due to the amount of members we have, theres always someone who has done something that someone needs to know about.

most often. I'd even bump that percentage up to 90% simply because even if the first few answers are slightly off, someone will come around and correct the misinformation eventually.
That's if you don't count the wrong ones that got corrected.

no offense highanddry but what right do you have to post such a poll. who are you to question an organization like F.E.O.A that is here primarly to help people, most often at the expence of the owner. So what if you have a select few who have no clue about how to help others out. So what if they give the wrong answer. how are you going to stop it? you cant. thats why people have to use their comon since when they post here or any were for that matter. I take great offense with posts like this, because i take great pride in helping the people on this board to the best of my ability. and to have some one question whether or not the time i put in on this board helps or not, makes me question your ability to be a contributing member oth this board.

Actually Chad, I was only having fun. I don't think I've ever started a poll that wasn't just for fun. I think we don't have enough polls or enough fun around here (cheap plug for the Off-Topic forum). We mustn't take ourselves too seriously.

Whether or not I contribute to FEOA technically is irrelevant to this poll. In fact, if you noted above, I purposely used an example of me making a stupid guess.

My personal belief is that this place helps tons of people. But that's also irrelevant since this poll is strictly for fun. I wouldn't keep coming here if I didn't truly find this place at least amusing.

Maybe that new baby isn't letting you get enough sleep.

Wait.... You mean if I install Megasquirt it won't fix the taillight that's burnt out???? dang, and I though Marclar knew what he was talking about... ha.

I think this forum helps more often than not. Ihave been able to troubleshoot three or four somewhat major problems using the people here for resources, saved me tons of cash that I never had.

I trust this place a lot... but always wait until people are arguing or asking you more questions about your problem. If you just give a slight explanation... your gonna get a lot of answers. When i had my problem, I posted pictures, and then everyone knew what was wrong. It's when you post things like "my car isn't going vrooooooooom... what's wrong" that you get the incorrect answers. I'd say that there's normally at least 1 corret answer for every post. And ur telling my that my headlight problem isn't gonna be fixed with a whack of a pink umbrella? DAMN!

I think we are a pretty helpful bunch. While we may not be right 100% of the time, ok sometimes we are way off in left field but we get as close as we possibly can.

I trust a good 90% of the information. Each situation is a little different, so to be 100% is an impossibility. There may be a "problem" posed that sounds like a common thing, but it is something completely unrelated to that issue.

As far as turbo's go. I am still learning, but after the loss of ERDT there has been a climb in "what turbo this, how turbo that.. MS VS.. Maf+tune... " But I trust what "umbrella boy" and 1.9 SPI guy have to offer. because both have done turbo builds in two completely unique ways...
