So, I have my passengers side door panel off, and have been doing some measuring. This SUCKS. I had plans of a full custom active 3-way setup, and already own ALL of the equipment. Dayton RS 8" midbass's, ADS 4" midranges, and some TangBand ceramic chambered 1" tweeters.

After I removed the door panel, not only did I realize just how little depth there is in the stock locations, but I realized if I place the 8" midbass in the far front lower corner, there is still a support there for the window regulator <_<

Has ANYBODY gone to an extreme like this in one of these cars that might have any idea's for me? The original idea was to build just a set of doorpods that would bolt to the doors themselves and cut the doorpanels for them to fit, but because of the window crank, I won't be able to put the 4" midrange anywhere but on the bottom of the door behind the midbass, and I am really not liking this.

Idea's/pictures anybody??

you going to need to make customer door panels and i hope you have power windows! i had a huge bass set-up but never got around to a nice mid and high end in the red car before blowing the motor and going turbo. but since have done other escorts and mx3's.

No, I have manual windows, so it SUCKS. Do you have any pictures of some of the things you've done? A friend mentioned putting the 4" midranges at the leading edge of the dash, but I can't even picture how I'd be able to do that.

my myspace has the most pics. my cardomain i haven't updated in forever since they updated there system i hate it.

is your 4" a solo driver or a 2 way? i know you said 3way active but will it be seperate amps or will you be using some passive crossovers? given the time i could easily build you a set of a-pillar pods for your car if you wanted.

The drivers are 8" Dayton RS midbass's, 4" ADS midranges, and 1" Ceramic TangBand Tweeters. All separate amps. 300x2 rms for the 8's, and 100x4 for the midranges and tweeters. I'm not worried about the tweeters, fitting them isn't an issue, it's fitting the 8" and the 4" in the doors that is the problem. My car is a manual and I autox, and I use my deadpedal, and the fuses are in the driveers kick. So, kickpods are nopt an option for me.

with some minor door frame trimming i could see/make all that stuff work in your door and maintain the roll up windows. along with not using kicks and not hanging off your door more then say about 2 inches. im at work so i cant upload pics of my stuff but can later or email you.
