Hey guys, so would anyone know the procedure on replacing the dizzy gasket/o-ring? It's been leaking slowly since I bought the car, and today while trying to hunt down a hesitation/irregular misfire I found some oil in the dizzy cap. Anyone know what's involved and where to find the part? Also, would oil in the distributor cause a misfire or hesitation at all? I cleaned all the contacts on the cap and rotor, but nothing really changed. Is it possible the oil in the distributor could be effecting the pickup coil? I'm not sure what would be safe to try and clean it out. Low VOC brake cleaner? Electrical cleaner? Need some suggestions.

there is a seal on the dizzy shaft. often it is not a repairable failure, and most of the time will require replacement of the dizzy unit. often the shaft wears out as well...

yes it could cause a mis.

yes anything inside other than air can cause irregular pickup.

    use brake parts cleaner.

I had the internal distributor seal fail on my Mazda B2200 truck, and was able to measure up and by replacement seals online. It was a non-standard size.
Maybe your distributor can also be fixed this way.
