I am doing some heavy searching on the internet and I am finding some pretty interesting information

Can anyone confirm or deny the following?

89 GT had roller rockers?
87 GT had 115 HP while other years had 110 HP

89-90 Front bumper cover is 20 pounds lighter than other years

Just wanted to present this stuff to you

thanks

As far as I know, the same exact motor was used from 88.5 to 90.5...thats the 1.9 E.F.I. High Output. I wish the 89 had roller rockers because if so, an 89 head would be on my car right now.
as far as the bumper, i have no clue
i hope that helps some

Ok, I own an 89 GT, and from looking in the oil fill hole it doesn´t look like there are any roller rockers. As far as the bumper goes, I´m pretty sure the later GT bumpers are lighter. I say this because they ar totaly plastic or composite, where as the earlier ones had a polyurathane type cover over a hunk of steel that was the bumper. The later bumpers are light as hell. I think the mountin poins are the same, so switching a earlier to a later shouldn´t be too hard

My 87 gt also has the 1.9L EFI HO engine, same as 88, 89, and 90, but the heads are different, that could account for the difference in horsepower. It is true that the 87 had 115 hp, but I don´t know about the other years. The front bumber cover on the 87 is designed differently than the other years but I can´t confirm a twenty pound difference in weight (seems like that estimate is too high) The 87 escort gt is a very strange car indeed. There are many parts on it that are different from earlier cars and later cars. In fact I think that in time, they may become a very rare car, I have noticed that it is harder to find parts for it in the junkyard. Also the ford dealership has stopped making some of the parts for it. For example there is some sort of emissions pipe that runs down from the intake and connects to the end of the header. When I asked the dealership if they had a new one, they told me that it didn´t exist, they couldn´t find it in any of there books. I also tried to get a new grill, but they stopped making them and the guy told me that there were only 3 left in dealer stock in the ENTIRE COUNTRY! And good luck finding one in a junkyard. Anyway I think I´m done rambling now. (sorry bout that)
