Looks like a VERY tight fit, lol!

How are you going to fit headers in there?

By the way, I found the actual specs for the 427 SOHC engines. They're from "The Standard Catalog of Ford" by John Gunnell. I'll type out exactly what the book says about them.

The code L's (the least powerful one, with a single carb) specs are:

"SOHC 427" 4v V-8: Overhead Valve. Cast Iron Block. Hemispherical combustion chambers with overhead valves and overhead camshafts for each engine bank. Displacement: 427 cid. B & S: 4.23 X 3.78 inches. Compression ratio: 12.10:1. Brake hp: 616 at 7000 rpm. Five main bearings. Carburetor: Holley four-barrel. Cooling system capacity: 20.5 qt. with heater. Crankcase capacity: 5 qt. (add one qt. with new oil filter). Dual exhaust. Code L. (This engine was available only "over the counter" for $2500).

The Code M's (the more powerful one, with dual carbs) specs are:

"SOHC 427" 4v V-8: Overhead Valve. Cast Iron Block. Hemispherical combustion chambers with overhead valves and overhead camshafts for each engine bank. Displacement: 427 cid. B & S: 4.23 X 3.78 inches. Compression ratio: 12.10:1. Brake hp: 657 at 7500 rpm. Five main bearings. Carburetor: Two Holley four-barrel. Cooling system capacity: 20.5 qt. with heater. Crankcase capacity: 5 qt. (add one qt. with new oil filter). Dual exhausts. Code M

Hey Randy, I had forgotten to respond to the pic you sent the other night. It looks like it will just barely fit in there. I am sure you guys will make it work though. Keep up the good work!

You can add 515 FT/LBS of torque @ 3800 RPM for the "L" motor.

    The "M" motor was 575 ft/lbs of torque @ 4,200 rpm.

    The engine weighed 680 lbs.

The "M" motor cost $2350.00 in October of 1968.

The engines also had a dual-point distributor with a transistorized ignition amplifier system, running 12 amps of current through a high-output ignition coil.
