Ok so I´m driving around lookin at all the used car places to see if I can find a Z28 with a 5 sp and I didn´t see much around. For some reason I ended up going down Hague Rd and as I cross state street I look over, and here´s this 5.0, then I look behind me and here comes this Viper GTS red with twin pin stripes. lol I´m like hell yeah. Going down the street it´s me, a 5.0, and a Viper GTS. slowest POS to fastest shaggin-wagon drool-machine. :-?
I turned onto Coliseum and when it turns two lanes the Viper guns it and storms around me. no chance whatsoever lol I´m like cooooooool and wiped the drool up off my shirt.

Ok here´s the kill story. lol
At the next light I pulled up to this mid 90s Corolla, light turns green, I wind my car out to 4k rpm and shift, then I look over...he´s actually trying, so i floor it in second and at 3100 rpm, he´s slowly slowly gaining up onto my door. 4k rpm he´s still gaining slowly, 4500 rpm it starts to even out, then I hit 5500 rpm and I think I can HEAR my VICS initiating, and that was it, I started to gain from him pretty quick. I get him behind me and he swerves over, and turns. I wasn´t hardly even trying. how pathetic. but it´s probably an automatic and I know it wasn´t built to race anyway. but yeah that´s my first kill in the past few months. I was only going 20 over the speed limit :-o When he turned I slowed WAY down real quick though, so it´s all good ;-)

:-? Variable Inertia Charge System. It´s on the 1.8 GTs...a vacuum opens four butterfly valves at 5500 rpm and allows the air to flow more freely. I took my silencer and under filter tube off and I swear I can hear it initiate now. ;-)

There´s a Black GTS with silver stripes that rides around Coliseum A LOT. I´ve seen it maybe 5 times. Never seen the R/T 10 though.

This one was red with white stripes. it was a mid 90s model. twin tailpipes down the center and it said GTS R or something to that effect on the side when I finally caught back up. He was turning off Coliseum onto US 30 north. So I dunno where he lived.

Yeah... VICS is just butterfly valves in the intake plenum that open up so you can cram more air into the cylinder. It´s one of the reasons why I bought the 1.8L engine in the GT because it´s got an awesomely huge power band.

James- what do you mean you took the silencer and under filter tube off? Are you talking about the resonator duct (the black sealed tube that sits on the top of the radiator)?

I´m kinda wondering because I took my resonator duct off also, and I can hear my vics a little better, and it kicks in now at around 3900rpm instead of stock 5500rpm :)

Since I took my silencer tube off there my car has regularly been getting 21 mpg, I usually got anywhere from 15 to 19 mpg, driving it hard. I filled up today & got 21.1 mpg... after driving it hard.
Although I don´t see HOW that could affect it, I´m leaving it off... for good. ;-)

James, if I recall you still have the stock factory airbox. If you have removed the cross-radiator resonance duct, then you would do well to fill the hole left in the airbox so as to prevent sucking hot air from underhood.
