This is my first time posting any thing but I know you guys can answer this.
The speedo on my 2002 just stopped working and it through the P0500 code. Any ideas on where I should start looking.

sounds like the vehicle speed sensor, on the transmission, needs replaced.

it's a pita to get out, some of them are stuck in there pretty good!

thanks everyone! I see I'm not the only one with this problem I just need to read more postings. But does any one know what Tech. manual covers the 02? All the ones I come across end at 00 or 99

The 2002 is basically the same as the 2000. The differences are vary small.

Well I just got done replacing the VSS and like everyone say is a big pain in the rear end. Thanks everyone for the help.

Update

Well here we are three days later and the speedo quit working again so I took the VSS out again and replaced it with a new one. Took the care for a test drive and Speedo worked fine. Jumped in the car to run to store and Speedo quit working again. Any one have any thoughts?

Damaged plug or wiring is the only other thing I can think of.
