We have a '94 Escort, manual transmission. The other morning my son went to leave in his car and it wouldn't change gears (wouldn't go into reverse to let him back up). We changed the master clutch cylinder and bled it. It still won't disengage. Any ideas on what to try or look for next?
He needs his car to head back to school on Monday. Please help! Thanks.

Clutch problems

After posting and reading other posts, we replaced the master clutch cylilnder and then replaced the slave cylinder. It may have been just a bad slave cylinder or it may have been a combo of both, but now she works fine! Shiftsgreat. While they were at it, the adjusted the clutch peddle so that it now fully disengages without having to push it clear through the floorboard. To do this, they pulled the fan out and had plenty of room to work. Thought it might be of some help to someone else. Thanks.

Glad to hear that everything worked out, and that you found the other posts helpful. Normally someone would have responded to you... but it has been a busy few days for a lot of us. Hope you plan on staying around.

welcome to the board :D Hope you stay around, or at least bother us when you have a problem. Between evreyone here, we have seen just about every problem there is on the Escort. If you ever get a hankering to make her faster, check out the forced induction section 8O
