Ok so today (sunday) i was cruzing along in my 2nd gen scort and about 30 seconds after i shifted into 5th gear i hear click click boom. and my tranny no longer worked so i pulled over and checked my tranny and fluid was every where and then after taking a closer look i found a 2" x 2" hole in the side of my tranny that looked like a gun had been fired at it at close range. the only thing that has been done to my car in the last two weeks is i had a tranny put in it at a local repair shop. WTF should i do

well, from the description, it sounds like somebody popped out and shot your transmission while you were driving. :-]

Can you get pics of this hole? Where is it on the transmission? What is the meaning of life? And why can´t I find a decent organic mango in this town?

Speaking of which, where "up north" do you live? I´m currently taking classes in potsdam, NY, and I´m always trying to meet up with other escort owners.

if there´s a hole in the transmission casing I don´t believe there´s much you can do but replace your transmission. Much like when an engine throws a connecting rod through the block, I would think that the transmission blew a gear or gear linkage.

Nice imitation off of Saliva there with the click and the other click with the Boom at the end. hehe ;-)

where did you get the tranny from and wwas it warrented. If it was a rebuilt sound slike the shop F´d up. Either way I woudl find all that out cause you might just get a new tranny out of it. I herd of that happening before, and the hole was caused by the tranny mount being ripped off. yes it can happen if it´s not bolted right on the mount. I would also check that out. Cause if thats the cause thats the shops fault. Hope everything works out for ya.

clutch could have exploded... in which case your lucky. thats why NHRA etc makes you put a scatter sheild on so you don´t lose a limb.

Take it back to the shop...oh and I´d be REALLY pissed off.

Take pictures of it first and keep all original recipts.

^ what he said.

The shop probably screwed up. What kind of revs were you pulling at the time? (I suspect they were low if you were shifting into 5th) Any vibrations, other noises?

Did they resurface your flywheel? Was it a stock clutch?

well, a few years back in my dad´s saturn, I blew a gear out the side of the tranny just cruisin´ down the interstate at 65. torn a big hole in the case. Most likely thats what happened, I heard the same noises you described, and yet tranny fluid was indeed all over the place. the shop most likely didn´t have anything to do with it if all they did was put in a clutch. If the clutch is intact, it wasn´t their fault. If the clutch is fragged, well then...
