I have a couple of big cracks in my dash and it makes it look really old. I didnt know if it was possible to fix the cracks where it didnt look like they were there or if you cant do that if you could switch dashes. If you can switch dashes how and is it really hard to do. I am kind of an idiot so the more help you can give me the better.

Yes you can get a new dash, but it´s a pain to take out. I haven´t done it myself but most guys say it is basically the hardest part to take off the whole car. There are lots of hidden bolts and screws all over the place. Dunno if this is a help of not.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaa..... think again before doing it. If you can fix dash fix it. There are 2 ways to take it off. The way I did I took only skin off and not a metal framing. It was super hard. Soo many bolts that are beyong of reach. Some bolts took me an hour to take off. Super hard. Other way is to take a whole front dash assembly. Which is no easier the taking engine out.

I used to be so proud that my car had a perfect dash then I went out one day and there it was the typical crack across the top of the guage cluster.I was not happy. So I started looking for a dash but I was having a hard time first finding the right color(I hate that paint crap)then finding one that was not pre cracked. Finally, aftef pulling a cover most of the way out, then finding those hairline cracks in front of the passenger seat, I went ouit and bought a dash mat to cover it up.Call it good for now.I would really like a polished aluminum panel but there´s so much stuff behind the dash I know it will be no easy project.

Dash Mat is the way to go. I haven´t tried taking an Escort dash off, but if it is anything like my mustang (Which it sound like it is) it can be a real bear. I threw a dashmat on my dash, and the whole interioir looked 20 times better. But as far as repairin goes, I have heard that putting bondo in the smaller crack and repainting the dash might work, not to sure about the bigger one. I had the Grand Canyon of cracks over my instument cluster, and I doubt even Bondo would have fixed it.
