Ok so I have the 95 lx 1.9 sohc and was curiouse if I could somehow make it a dohc for a lil more power???? Please let me know!

I doubt its possible or else I would have heard of more people doing it, or the gains just didn't net enough horsepower to make it worth it. You could always swap in an SPI from a third gen, I think the 97 is the easiest to do as it use the same type of fuel system as the 2nd gens.

to do it you would be swapping basically everything from a car with a 1.8, motor, tranny, wiring harness, ECU, Cluster?.

Most people dont do it because it is easier just to buy a car with a 1.8

Of course it makes perfect sense if you want a 4 door hatchback or a wagon with a 1.8.

I did it in a 92 wagon, so it is not impossible.

It's best to have a whole parts car so you can do a disk brake conversion at the same time, and you may as well get the bigger rear sway bar from a GT. If you are doing it to a hatchback then you can also pick up the GT ground effects.

SPI swap is quite a bit easier to do though

I don't think he meant swapping his 1.9 to a 1.8, I think he meant putting a DOHC head on his 1.9 block.

Yeah, you would be best off swapping a BP or a Zetec in it.

oh yeah, if that is the case, it is impossible. The blocks are entirely different.

Either one will be a pain. Zetec you can use your tranny, BP, you have to swap everything to over to an EGT. If you could get a Zetec engine harness and ecm you would be pretty good to go with the VCT, look at jeffescortlx's cardomain page, he did a zetec swap and is running it on the 1.9 ecm and tranny.

They are SPI swapped, 2 of them, but he did buy a sedan 5 speed that had a blown head gasket just to do a Zetec swap. I believe it is still up on his cardomain. It's a dark blue sedan, it's on one of his hatchback pages though.
