I got a question i need everyones opinion on this i have attached a link to my car domain site and i would like to know from everyone how a carbon fiber hood would look on my car. please give your honest opinions and if someone could do photoshop or something it would be greately appreciated.

Who gives a F*k how it would look. Get it for it´s intended purpose, LIGHTER WEIGHT. Honestly if I had a Carbon Fiber hood I would paint it the same color as the body so no one would even know I had one. Personally I think they look dumb unleess they are on a black car. I also hate the fact that people buy "performance" part just because of the way they look. What ever happened to the good old days when someone bought a muffler because it would get you a few more horspower, not because they wanted everyone to think their 1 in exhaust was really 5 inchs, and surley not because they wanted a huge ass hunk of chome that adds more weight than the new muffler can make extra hoursepower for.

but...i do gotta say, if the looks are original and the performance is just as good as the looks if not better, then i dont mind doin it..

huge exhause(unless used for turbo purposes which bigger exhaust is needed)
firefly led´s
wiper led´s
neon license plates
z3 fenders(unless they are on a z3)
huge wing(most ricers dont try to look at a car from an art´s point of perspective..if the wing draws attention to just the back, then its gay)
metal dash kits
ne tire that is less than 40 series(one pothole and that rim is f*cked)
intake for just looks
colored turn signal bulbs
altezza´s on a POS car
electronic superchargers
blow off valve speakers
and finally OWNING A CIVIC
ALL that crap makes u queer like every other person

Okay, well I fall into the non-rice situation for the most part...except last weekend a friend gave me some LED´s he had sitting around that are blue in the middle but flash patterns of green, red, and yellow (their actually pretty small)...and I had an LED switch for my fan that didn´t seem to work out, so I wired it up to that,...but they´re only on when I´m parked.

So the BOV draws attention when I drive and the LED´s when I´m parked....okay guess the point of the whole thing is Rice...but its okay

alright i am sorry if i piss you off but i got to spout about what you just said. I don´t think Z3 fenders are ricy I personally liek the look of them, Like i said personally though. And i do have alot of colored lights on my car that i added fro affect. Call me queir or whatever but I think that this stupid so called " thats ricer" stuff people say about is stupid. peoples opinions are different and what someone else calls ricer may not be ricer in someone eleses eyes. And to be honest I really like civics and hondas. They are nice cars, it´s just the "hip thing" for alot of kids to have right now and yes alot of them think just cause it says Honda it´s a race car and they are the shit in it, and with just an exhaust and intake like most of them put on they arn´t. So I will agree to that point about the kids that own them. But I really like the look of the civic. And I do whatever i want to my car may it be ricer to someone and nice to other and i could care less it´s my car and I am gonna do what I want to it and make it as unique and different from anyone elses. Like I said I could care less about what I am called as long as I lke my car the way I made it. I personally like the look of the carbon fiber hoods and thats why I would get it. I am not into racing my car that much, but I do want it to stand out and be different. Now I am sorry if I pissed ya off but like I said that was my opinion. And I will agree with you that some things some of thses people do really looks like shit to their car, but i guess they like it and thats what matters the most.

everyone is entitled to thier opinion thats what makes this country different . If doing those things to your car turns you on , go for it ! If that turns you off then do it your way . what we need to do is encourage each other to do our best with what we have . I , myself have no desire for a carbon fiber anything . I like my car as is ( almost ) . What I do to mine you might think is hardly anything ,yet again you may think I ruined a nice car by doing anything at all . Its all only opinion , yours , mine ,or nobody at alls . after fooling with cars for over 28 years I feel that whatever you do to your car must be right for you first others second . thankyou .

what if the Z3 fenders can be made to be functional? You could make em suck in cool air to blow over the front brakes. would that still be rice? :-?

You´d be better off with brake cooling ducts (which noone will see). Those gills won´t do crap to benefit your car unless you actually have them venting air from the engine bay, but noone is going to go to all the trouble of cutting the holes in the fenderwell and fabbing ducting. I think they look silly on anything except a z3.. but I´m always in favor of the clean look.

i think u´d be better off not pushin air to the brakes. Cuz if u´ve stopped hard and ur puttin air to cool them down, u might warp a rotor or two...which is the reason i think that cars arent incorporated w/ them...

There´s plenty of cars that are equipped with air cooled brakes. unless that´s just a ploy for extra money. which could be. I dunno. Rotors get air no matter what so if cold air is going to warp rotors after mediocre use then we´d all be driving around with warped rotors.

i put an led in each of my windshield wipers, mainly because it would only cost me a couple $´s, and i haven´t seen anyone ANYWHERE else do that. it´s even cooler when the blades move and the led´s move with them! :-]

what i also want to do is get a functional hood scoop (not for ram air but just to cooler the engine) from an older scooby and have green led´s make it glow inside. how sweet would that be?

the led nozzles are illegal here, and they´re not original anymore. plus they don´t have green

just my 3 Canadian pennies worth (to equal you American´s pennies ;-) )

I have blue LED nozzels spliced onto my driving lamps, but i have one of the connectors pulled so they´re not lit up anymore. if it weren´t for the fact that the sprayers are a lot nicer than the stock ones, i´d change them back. I´ve been thinking about getting a carbon fiber hood. but just look how expensive they are. I can buy a short shifter and a new starter for the price of one. :-o

[/TD][/TR][/TABLE] If you want better engine cooling, get the dual teardrop hood vents like CosworthWannabe2 has. A scoop won´t help the cooling any.. and people will only point and call you rice when you paste one onto the hood... None of the scoops sold in the US were fuctional since the old Legacy RS (which was molded into the hood) and even the WRX fellas want to move to a FMIC because the stock IC is so darned inefficient with that stupid scoop.

Yeah, I would move it to a FMIC as well, but I´d still keep my hood scoop there. it gives the car attitude. :-]

I assume you mean if you had a WRX.

If so, you can turn the hood scoop around (the base is symmetrical!) and allow it to vent.. helping draw even more air through the FMIC. ;-)

Dude, I say, You like the hood, get it! If you have the extra money! I have so many dings and dents in my car and believe it or not it still looks fairly clean. Who gives a crap about the dents and dings I say...I have a white car and even considered a carbon fiber hood but then again, my car I barely trust her to get me to the store and back until I get the much needed parts I´m waiting for.....Its up to you man!!

My post wasn´t about being Ricey, it was about originality, practicality, and thinking for yourself. If you want to spend $350 on your car do it because you want to, not because someone else will think it looks good. If some one had to tell me what looks good on my car, I might as well just give them the pink slip because I would be building it to someone elses taste. If some one came up and said a hood made of aluminum foil would look good on your car wuold you listen to them then?? Hell if you think a hood made out of aluminum foil looks good on your car then put one on your car, just don´t do it because of popular opinion. Some day people will realize foil is lighter than carbon fiber, and a lot cheaper and maybe it will be the next new thing, but you won´t see me putting one on my car just to impress other people. Like I said before I would love a carbon fiber hood for my car, but only for funcionality. I would more than likely have to make my own though since I have seen no market for 1st Gens. OSme day I hope to be able to make a complete CF front end for my car, not because it is cool, but because it is something I would like to do to make my car lighter.
