So the shop says that my rear tie rod is bent, but the problem is I can't find anywhere that has a rear tie rod for my car. They also say its the left rear tie rod(on the right wheel). Can anyone help me out, i'd rather not venture to the jy since ours suck.

Are you talking about the inner tie rods for the steering rack, or the lateral links on the rear suspension? I can get you inner tie rod P/N's. If it's the rear lateral link probably your only choice will be a wrecker.

A) Most parts counter people are ass hats and have no idea what anybody is talking about
B) That's not a common replacement part. If you do find a new one available (probably only from Ford) they will want big money for it. It will be much easier and cheaper to just get one from the wreckers.

BAH stupid shop. They say the reason my alignment in the rear is off is actually because my spring is broken, and that the tie rod they talk about is actually the front one. So I guess I wait for the springs and struts I bought, then I go and do the lowering, then I go take it there for an alignment and maybe eventually replace the tie rod! god damn shops!

i as a parts counter person take BIG TIME offense to that remark matt. 99.9% of all parts mistakes are the CUSTOMERS faults, not knowing what they actually need, not knowing what its called, or not speaking english at all. by the way, front outer tie rod, FOCZ-3V130-A, 28.95, inner,
FOCZ-3V280-A, 25.12, and the rear link, (aka rear control arm)
FOCZ-5500-C, 135.38 should be in stock at any good ford dealer, not too bad on the prices either.

Someone just recently told me online that this part was called the Rear Lateral Link. Is that correct? Because I've heard it's called the lower control arm as well.

its both. its the control arm in that it controls the movement and alignment of the rear wheel.
its also a lateral link in that its positioned laterally and links the wheel hub to the subframe of the car.
as another parts counter person, i agree that most mistakes in parts are the customers fault for not knowing what part they need, what car they have, what year the car is, what engine, what the part is called, or for making up names for parts that arent real.

hmmm... related question... my alignment has been off for years cuz my left one is bent... the left doesn't have an adjuster screw on it and my mechanic was telling me that I could take a right one and put it on the left and have adjustements on both sides....
does that make sense to anyone?

I believe in later years they were replacing them all with the adjustable kind anyways, and they're exactly the same, so it'll work just fine to use the right on the left or vice versa.Etienne said:

1g's are completely different, they have more commonality to tempos and other OE ford cars, the 2g's all have a mazda based chassis/suspension.Russell said:
