Hello there everyone. I am new to this forum and have searched all over for an answer to my problem but have come to no conclusions.
So my car died the other day. It is a 2001 Escort Sedan w/ Auto Tranny. After it died I tried to start it again and it idled VERY poorly and died with a weird rotating whipping/grinding noise. Automatically I assume timing belt, its due in 10k and maybe it just went out... So I get it towed to my house, pull apart the timing cover... timing belt is perfect... So I proceed to take off the timing belt to check if the water pump locked up. It was perfect as well. So then I tried manually turning over the crank.
Now this worries me. I cannot turn it over to make the aligning mark at the 12 o'clock position. I can rotate it back and forward about 330 degrees but I cannot go past TDC. Now I am thinking I threw a rod or something. Please if anyone could give me advice on how to determine the problem behind this and advice on fixing it. I would be very grateful.
