I recently bought an Escort 1998 1.6 V Zetec. I don't know if it's brazilian or european.
The manual says "Printed in Germany", but somebody in a workshop told me that it's brazilian. I recently had to buy a part and it seems that the part was from an american Escort, so I really don't know what kind of car do I have. Can somebody please tell me what kind of car do I have.
I'd also like to know what kind of compatibility does my car have with other brands such as Mazda,in order to get parts, because in my country (Costa Rica) it is very difficult to get parts for my car.
I'd appreciate if somebody can help me.
Thank you.

Per wikipedia your car may have been built in Argentina.

"The Escort hatchback and station wagon were produced in Argentina until 2004, having been sold alongside its successor (the Focus) during the final stages of production. In Chile, to avoid confusion with the US-market Escort which was being sold alongside it, this generation was sold as the "EuroEscort" for several years."

Is there a sticker on the frame where the door closes that gives the location and date of it being made? Thats where all cars sold in the U.S. would have a label.
