I have a car that was hit on driver side door. I replaced the door but have yet to do the Light and Brake Check nor register. I heard that DMV will do a VIN check.

How will this affect my car? I also have no receipts as I purchased it on OfferUp.

    Thanks

I dont know what is involved with doing an inspection with a 'salvage titled" car. The only hiccups as to a VIN check would be if the car was listed as stolen, or it if had a lien on it.
So if it passes that VIN check, keep a copy of the paperwork.

I would think that (only) the VIN on the dashboard would be the one inspected.

In PA when a car is issued a "salvage" title, you need to provide proof of where the parts came from in order to get it changed into a "reconstructed" title. The proof for the parts would include the VIN number from the donor car.

Hrm thanks for that. What happens if you have no proof?

    I don't know. I had proof when I redid a car.
