I live in Los angeles CA, and looking to replace the catalytic converter of my 99 SE Escort (std. shift).
I found an online site, where they list two models (for 2 different engine codes):
XFMV02.0VG5 1998-2002 ~ $235
XFMXV02.0VGC 1998-1999 ~ $220

1.- any suggestions to decide which one is the right one?
2.- Any suggestions where to find a less expensive CARB unit?

You need pictures of the actual units, which I managed to find using Google. One will be for the ZX2 and one will be for the sedan/wagon. Biased on the pictures I found you will need the XFMXV02.0VGC one, Catco part number 612865. I don't think you can get a CARB unit much cheaper than that. Non CARB units are around $185.
