what do you guys think about a busa engine in a 2g scort rwd
i think i mite try to build it this summer :wink:

I think the stock 1.9 makes more ftlbs then a busa motor.

I thought the same thing, but whats the 1.9 make like 120ftlb. The busa is like 130ftlb at the crank, and hp is like 100 for the 1.9 and like 190 for the busa.
Jeff I know your the expert so whats a 1.9 with a trany waight. Because the busa is like 180lb.

Thanks I'm saving up for it. I think I can do it with $3000. So I got tell summer because its too cold in NC to work on it now.

I think you can do better then 190hp/130ftlbs with $3000.
Might be cool, but not practical.

Well with another $500 I think I can get 250hp to 300hp out of it, and thats with stock internals, and 8-12psi. Also Jeff thats with the rwd setup.

sounds interesting- but:

If you are attempting to achieve the results of the Busa-powered Smart car, I think you will be very disappointed. The Escort weighs much more than a Smart car, and even tho the "numbers" show you will have a quick car, I personally don't think the results will be that. I could be way off, too.

I would also imagine you would want to modify the Suziki engine to make its torque at a much lower rpm if possible. Not that hearing an Escort hit 11K+ rpm's wouldn't be "neat", but i don't think the tire-shredding results you are looking for will be there.

I could be very ,very wrong tho. As stated above, it might not have the "cool" factor, but reaching a more usable high hp number with the current platform, and $3000.00, might be your best course of action.

You are corect. But Im not looking for that smart cars results but what I am looking for is something cool and fast. Oh and I planed on going with a max speed of 140mph and a redline of 14000rpm.

Hey guys I found this video to show that it should work. In this video its at only at 200BHP and at 7.5psi of boost, and its sick.

they got that buy some crazy weight reduction though, interior stripped, carbon fiber doors and hood and lexan windows.. does the 3k account for that too?

Some what. Im not gona go that light, but im gona try and get more power and gear lower. He was runing 7.5psi. I plan on runing 10psi to 12psi.
