I have a 94 Escort Wagon (automatic transmission) with 60,000 miles. The car recently started bucking, or jerking, when I put it in reverse and start backing up. Once I put it in drive the bucking stops and the car runs fine. This is not something that happens all the time, either.
Any ideas on what is causing this?

Dude, you could throw a saddle on my LX it bucks so bad...

In reverse it bucks really badly. I figured it just had to do with worn out gears or slack somehwere in the transmission. The way I get around it is to push in the clutch whenever I am not on the throttle. However, if I´m crusing through a parking lot at low speeds, I´ll just cruise in 1st and then shift into neutral and coast because it will buck. Really annoying... if anyone could help I´d like to know too,
