ok years ago i swore i would never own one of these things but here i find myself driving around in a 2002 Escort SE with an AUTOMATIC trans! its the epitomy of weak. ok wait before you flame... a man must work with what he is given so to speak. i cant complain about the gas mileage much and the little thing seems to run good. i recently made the trip to Killeen, Tx and back in it and aside from hitting an F-150 and having to replace a lot of the front end myself from the JY its been pretty good. so far all ive done is put a set of gunmetal 6 spoke 17" rims with some cheapo nankang's on it, set up a custom short ram intake with a Apexi filter, and added an aftermarket tach since it didnt even have one stock.
since im stuck with it for now i think im gonna do the manual tranny swap and try out this 65mm throttle body swap ive been reading about. porting the intake plenum is a given. if anyone has advice on fabricating the piping for a turbo setup i'd appreciate it. im lookin into the t3/t4 hybrid setup. also gonna be ordering the buddy club body kit ive been seeing since it isnt to gaudy. i am a mechanic and have been for many years. i built my first big block at age 12 and im goin on 33 now. if anyone has technical questions ill do my best to answer ya. i dont just do V8's... before this car i was racing a 1990 240sx with a VG30DETT setup. too much boost on stock internals + Nitrous = a bad day. anyway.. im here for better or worse. someone show me the light and teach me that these things can actually make some power
