I drive a 1992 LX 1.9 I did the Breather mod K & N like others for the valve cover because I replaced the hose that runs from the valve cover to the air intake. I lost a lot of sound and the voice of my escort is no longer deep, so, now the honeys can't hear when I drive down the street, just kidding. Is there a way I could regain the sound back by another modification like the pacesetter header because I would like to keep the breather. I put one on the valve and one for the ctamotorsport intake I have on the car, Is that random? Where's my car prowl? Any help fellow escort drivers! Thanks soo much.

Off topic: Have any of you heard of Courtney Day? WOWSERS, met her last saturday and let me just tell ya WHOA!

for sure a cone filter + Header + High-flow Catalyst converter + 2 1/4 " exhaust pipe + 7" diameter round straigth through muffler would give you a pretty damn loud and deep sound...but those things cost money....

depends of what kind of $ you are willing to spend....the Muflfler would give the best sound increase..but then all the other things would give you a little more juice to your engine.. and more sound.....so more honeys for ya :p

but seriously i dont know if Pacesetter have updated their Header for the Escort...but i know the 1rst version was not well engeneered...it gave a nice and deep sound but it was restricting the flow a lot...and the paint on the black version of the header was burning once it was installed ...so it was a pretty cheap product in the end.... and so far i dont know any other brands who make a header for the Escort 1.9L....

hope this helps...

try poking holes in your muffler(ricers deal..wahehehehe...) that will definitly make your car loud...nah but really buy your self a cherry bomb muffler(20 bucks at autozone)...and have it welded...and you are set...

From what you said it sounds like you put a breather on your intake tube? You should put one on the valve cover and cap off the connection on the intake tube. If you have a breather on the tube it will suck in unmetered air and make the car run all weird.

Exactly. Putting a breather shouldn't change the "sound" your engine makes anyway..

just don't get the pacesetter header... Zeemax did not like his. poor quality, things didn't fit right...etc.
Argh. World of difference. Mine's for a 95 GT. Plus I LOVED the header, it was the catback exhaust that completely sucked.

Hey zeemax:

You got the pacesetter header? Did you notice any difference in torque or smoothness? How about exhaust note?

A guy I work with put a header on his jetta and he said it was one of the best things he'd done for it. He said it really gave a much nicer torquey feel and vastly improved the exhaust tone.

Anyway... I just wanted to know your thoughts. I was thinking about getting a genie header on my GT.

GTscort is right about the deep sound. News flash: you can't get a deep sound out of a 4 cyl. I've been around a lot of cars, and I personally think that the best 4 cyl sound is a quiet one that comes alive at high rpms. I'm pretty sick and tired of fartcans.

Siragan, I'll PM you so this topic stays on course...

Suffice to say, the header for the 1.8 GT is nice. The catback sucks in so many ways...

Well...i made my own cat-back and muffler..and it sounds deep enough and still screams at high rpms.....and...if you think a 4 cyl cant sound deep..

man remove your cat-back and run around the block for a little while...if you get out of your car and your not def man you're good hehe..for sure it wont sound like a monster V8 on steroids ...but your I4 can still sound deep and scream under load...its only a matter of tuning...
my muffler is a 7'' diam round straight through one..and its 22'' long i think....it sounds deep when idle..and it screams when the engine is pushed.....for sure i never meant to say it will be deeper and louder then a v8 !!!! you I4 is half the size !!!

and you can get a nice exhaust note without buying a fart can like the Double exhaust tips pointing upward mostly found on VR6 volks...those sound like crap IMO... Just dont get a 4'' tip and it will sound decent ! !

More often than not, it's closer to 1/3 of the size. :)

I've been running a straight header on my daily driver EGT for a few months now, and people say it sounds more like a motorcycle than any car they've ever heard.. :)
