Greetings,

I desire to upgrade the brakes on my 1993 LX Wagon. I have done the big rotor, rear rotor conversion, so at this point it has '93 EGT running gear. Website if anyone cares: http://www.theyeagergroup.com/escort_wagon.htm

I am thinking braided stainless steel brake lines, better pads, and/or cross drilled rotors.

Questions/comments follow:
I have seen a lot of made in China rotors on eBay and don't know if I trust those.
Brembo has a good reputation, but is rather costly,
Night's Auto Parts Store in Canada carries Magnum rotors (made and machined in Canada) at a really good price.

Does anyone use any Magnum rotors? Are you satisfied with the purchase? What was the quality? Are they holding up over time?

Has anyone used the adjustable brake bias controller from Escort / Focus Performance? Does it work? http://www.escortfocus.com/html/escort_ ... onets.html

What brands of brake pads should I look at?

It seems to me that the braided stainless steel brake lines would be the best bang for the buck. Your thoughts on this?

brembo cross drilled or slotted or both, whice ever style you desire, i bought mine 100 a pair, so 200 for the set of 4. brake lines are 80 a set. and performance pads i forget the price. but sometimes if you bought all i know on pick ups he has given us little deals. but yes they are brembos. but i have just the rotors and i got apex pads from canada which were supposed to be the same quality and stuff as the green stuff but half the price and less dust, just all my parts are still in the garage. waiting till i redo all the suspension. if you call ask for woody

They are pretty good people and they should be able to help you out,

Oh and the adjustable bias controller from escortfocus.com is alright, it seems like forever to get the bias corrected but once you have the correct adjustments (Hint make a mark with a sharpie) you will be very happy with it.

try the back, but my bro dind put them on the back for the reason they grab to well, the shop siad he would just lock up the reara all the time. so be careful. plus the ebc are a little softer his were wearing faster than the stock, and he had front only on a 1998 zx2.

Hey spinsane, Which type of wilwood calipers did you throw onto the scort? I didn't thin kanyone even made any better calipers that would fit.
He also is making 475 hp with a 2.0 SPI, but not a normal SPI, the one that's like a SHO and 2.3 Turbocoupe  ...(there is no such thing) so I would trust his info to much.

Enough is enough jeff, I have answered your questions and you have made assumptions. At no time did i insult your inteligence, your integrity, or your posts. I simply placed forth the information i have available to me. If you ask nicely an svt ford dealer can obtain blueprints for the ford blocks. On one of these blueprints it states that the that the 2.3 Turbocharged Coupe Taurus is similair in design to the 2.0 Single overhead cam design used in building the 2.0SPI. So there is part one. I also stated that 475 is my goal G O A L it spells goal. Not reality GOAL more than likely i will top out around 300hp but if you don't shoot for the stars you won't get anywhere.

Finally Misfit_Zero: The Calipers i am using are the Wilwood Dynalite 4 Piston.

Check out Precision Brakes Company - www.precisionbrakes.com

And if you don't believe me still jeff wait till my pics go up next week and you can make more assumptions about people you do not know.

hey spinsane, i too have never heard of a Taurus SHO 2.3 Turbocoupe, only car ive ever heard of having that motor was a Mustang, the SVO in the late 80s and the THUNDERbird, no where ever have i seen a 2.3 turbo taurus stock. And besides i think jeff has a point, i saw no Willwood products forsale for an escort of any year.

Sorry to get off to a bad start, but there never was a 2.3 Turbo in a Taurus, there was never a Taurus turbo'd to begin with. The 2.3 Turbo motor and any CVH have nothing in common, blocks, rods, pistons, head, manifold.. nothig is the same. You did'nt say 475 was your "goal" untill after I question'nd it.
The 1.9 and 2.0 SPI are very simular to each other, while any taurus or 2.3 motor is not. How can you do so much to your escort, but yet know little about the motor you worked on, swapped and turbo'd? It just does'nt add up.

he realized he could better fool the people on some Honda board than us who know cars.

15" rotors on any car this size.. please.. save me the indigestion of laughter.

and 475hp.. too bad CVH blocks tend to crack at the 400hp mark.

what ever happened to the guy with the 15 inch ROTORS?
I checked his link above. Precision brakes does make a big brake kit with Wilwood Dynallite calipers, bit it aint cheap ($1,300), and it aint 15 inches either. The rotors are 325MM, which, divided by 25.4 mm/ inch, equals a shade under 12.8 inch rotors.
