So my left blinker is switching on and off fast. Research tells me it's bad, where is it located? Any online document for this?

A blinker that is blinking fast is likely telling you that one of your turn signal bulbs is 'burnt out'. This can be a bit tricky, since if the ground for the bulb is bad, it will still blink on and off - because the running light filament is doing the blinking. ....while the heavier brake light filament is staying dark. Its a fairly common sort of failure.

The turn signal flasher is located under the dash, to the left of the steering column and possibly to the left of where the clutch pedal hanger would be. Its probably rectangular, and would take some twisting of your back to be able to reach it. (Im fond of taking the drivers seat out, laying down a length of plywood, and being able to lie flat and look straight up at the many goodies under there.)
All of the wiring diagrams for the Escorts, along with pictorials and line drawings showing the location of components is found in the Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual, (EVTM). You need to get the one for your year of escort, as the wiring and location of components varied from year to year. I got all of mine from ebay, one for each year of the five escorts I own. Its weird that the ford service manual and the EVTM dont mention that they are one of a set of two. Nothing in the service manual mentions the EVTM, and nothing in the EVTM mentions the service manual.
