Thanks for all your help guys! i got everything wired up and i cant even make my lights blink!
I see you've moved onto batteries. I have an Interstate Megatron battery and its been great, my last one lasted 7 years. The new one is almost a year old and i've had my system for little over a year. I also have a db HO alternator. Would i really benefit much from getting a deep cycle battery ?

you have to compare actual size, my "stock" battery is 650cca and 850ca from walmart, so the term stock is meaningless.what I said isn't an opinion the typical deep cycle battery has thicker plates so pound for pound standard's thinner plates have more surface area. Deep cycle batteries are obviously more resilient and have a higher reserve capacity but for short surges of high current the typical car battery will have a higher output than the deep cycle of the same size. at least that's what the 7th edition of the Automotive Handbook written by Robert Bosch (which is published by the Society of Automotive Engineers) says, but hell what do they know right? then again this was written like 2-3 years ago....

if you plan on doing long periods of non engine running stereo use than go with a deep cycle most definitely,

bottom line you have to compare apples to apples, every deep cycle is not necessarily manufactured the same

the purpose of doing the "big 3" upgrade is to reduce voltage drop n the car's electrical system, however you achieve this is your own agenda so if you use 4 seperate 8awg wire or 1 4awg whatever to truly find out how well the upgrade will work you need to quantify the total resistance in the charging system

first off - 99sportscort. im glad your up and running properly. an aftermarket large battery is only going to help more. i know in my first can i used to have mad voltage drop but it was only at certian times. my lights would rarely fade. but when the right note hit it would just drain me to voltage clip. it was weird.

second off - pnmred. im not looking to argue i just didn't understand your statement. i guess the real question is what determines a "short surge" in their eyes. along with are they taking large stereo's into account or just starting a vehicle?

thirdly - escort_me. the reason i asked is because if its the tinned is carries a smaller peak amperage load capability then most 0ga power wire i buy and use in cars i install in. an the 0ga i use commonly is upwards of 1600 strand count. the AWG verses GA in the stereo wire game can go either way. however i do know what you mean. some manufactures that want to sell you "big wire" will mark it as larger based on its external jacket size. i had a guy give me some "2ga" once. i unwrapped it and it was no larger then a true 8ga all because of the jacketing being super thick. so i know what you mean by watching out.

what i mean by added brand name is there is no reason to purchase say rockford fosgate wire at 3 times the price of the knukoncepts i use. does your monster cable have the plastic line down the core of the wire?
