I have a 91 EGT and I am pretty sure the tensioner took a crap on it. Has anyone ever replaced this on their car before. I am debating wether I want to do this my self or not. How hard is it to do and how long does it take to do? Anyone with any info let me know please.

I just replaced the two accessories belts on my 92 EGT, didn´t do it myself, but had Hires do it, got it back and two days later if i didn´t rev it to 2500-3000 rpm and then let the clutch go, it bogs down the engine and almost stalls it, then it just takes off...kinda like a turbo. it´s really annoying so i took it back, been there all day today. I guess you could do it yourself, I don´t have any experience with that.

I have replaced the belts before. Actually the alternator belt i have replaced 3 or 4 times so the only thing i can come up with is the tensioner went bad. The belts squeek everytime and i have tried different belts. The most recent didn´t start for like 2 months.I got the experince on working on cars but where it is located looks like a bitch to get at easily. SO if anyone has done it i was just wondering how time consuming it is.

Ok, first off i don´t know crap about cars but my egt squeeks like a bitch...
specialy when my accesories are on.

so, where is the belt tensionner? Is it a screw i cant tight to make it stop squeeking..

Thats alright 4 I am embbarassed to tell how long it took me to find the damn tensioner. I even have the chilton manual and it didn´t mention a damn thing. It is under the power steering pump and is a long bolt. Really not noticble. if your belt squeeks I would chek it for cracks and maybe replace it if it´s been a while. Try some belt dressing also.
