I will be at Beaver Springs this weekend to get a final baseline on the 94 gt before the mods start. Here´s hoping the 230,000 mile stock motor and clutch hold up... times on monday

Is the whole car completely stock? That will be an interesting comparison once you´re done modding. What are you planning to do to it (mods)?

Yep the whole car is completly stock. well I did put in a K&N air filter. and when I replaced the rear struts it got a set of KYB´s but nothing major. The body was in great shape until i hit a deer on the interstate. I fixed all of it except the driver quarterskin. I am planning to go in stages. exhaust and intake first, then fuel and spark systems. next up half mil punch on the block new head, and cams, pistons w/ Total Seal rings. after that all works and I get the bugs out of it, I have a turbo from and old Mopar 2.2 turbo. Have seen one done with it so far and it works like a champ. Reason the the Mopar 2.2 turbo is they are really cheap, easy to rebuild, and can push more boost than you could possible want. Depending on how bad the lag is will determine how soon the bottle comes in. oh yeah, one of the first things will be a new clutch.

Well, things didn´t go as planned. First I didn´t have time to pick up the 94GT so I was going to run the 02ZX2 to make a long story short wound up running a 95 neon sohc. Don´t ask why. We smoked the clutch ran high 17´s and just had a lousy day of practice that got worse. a 94 drop top mustang blew a radiator hose a 660 and ran the rest of the track dumping anti freeze. this was noticed 3 or 4 runs later. the last was when a guy on a 2002 Suzuki bike wasn´t happy with his run (he was asleep at the line) threw it sideways and the return road bike into trees rider meat wagon ride with a broken leg. after the delays for the accident and the cleaning we said forget it and left. not a good day at the track. the neon was a little more than a second off it´s normal pace.

BAAH! I absolutely DETEST Neons with their puny SOHC 100 hp 4 bangers. i´ve smoked three of them off the lights through town here since i bought my 92 EGT last november. I met a 2001-02(?) R/T though a couple of weeks ago and got beat down like a red headed step child. That sucked. but R/Ts are quick. Anyway, I also hate Cavaliers, especially the new ones, I´ve beat four of those since last november off lights and to 60, but when my Escort´s timing belt broke i had to drive a 98 Cavalier to work for about a month...that sucked. I figure my EGT was built to run against cavaliers, sunfires, sunbirds and Neons. and against any of those, it´ll win, even if the Cavy is a Z24 six cyl. i´ve looked up times on stock cars. go to
www.car-stats.com it´ll tell you 0-60 and 1/4 mi times on almost any car out there. I´m loving this Escort. i don´t want to have to get a new car, but if it keeps acting up, I´ll have to.
