I need a new battery and was trying to figure out what size CA/CCA battery i want. The question really is though, how big can i go. I know if i go too big it can start recking my electronics. So I dunno, i was thinking maybe around 700CCA/ that would probly be around 1000CA

Why on earth do you want to go big in terms of CCA?

Get the minimum CCA with the highest capacity in terms of reserve that you think you'll need. Batteries can represent useless extra weight. Besides, there's only so much room in there for your battery anyway (spatial limitation).

Minimum CCA could get you in trouble if you live where it's fugging could. High reserves is always a good thing to look for. You might want to look at an orbital type battery. They kick butt and they will not leak since they are a sealed gel type. Also they are usually lighter.

This is a good point about the cold weather, especially since Saskatchewan winters are just plain nasty.

However, 1000 CCA for a little four banger is just plain excessive. I can't imagine a 1000 CCA battery fitting under the hood of an Escort or why anyone would want this. If we're missing something here, please explain.

If I recall correctly the stock battery size is MT-35. Definately don't go smaller than that in any rating of battery, i.e. 60, 72, etc.
