The reason I ask is my battery died, at work of course while it was like 100f outside 4 floors up in a parking garage! Luckily I got a jump but typically how long are car batteries good for? The battery was dated August 2007 it was a AAA brand. I bought the car in October 2007.

Wonder if I got a bad battery or if I should maybe change the battery every x amount of years just to be safe?

most batteries should last between 5-7 years.

my moms 05 civic battery lasted 3 years and 1 month, just long enough to be out of the factory warranty.

The battery in my 1999 Alero was put in the year 2000, and it's a WalMart battery. I'm thinking of changing it out due to age though.

Thanks so if that AAA was just a bad battery and died early or just not a good quality battery then it died just about were it should have. I did stop by Auto Zone and got one of their batteries.
