Anyone know what the car asbousltly has to have to run? It is a dirt track car, so i dont really need anything. im not running PS, AC, or an ALT. i just need the thing to get fuel and to spark. im really just needing ot know what sensors the ECU needs.

Um, all the sensors on the engine and the upstream o2 sensor, IAT and MAF. The engine needs almost all its sensors to run its best and even if you were to remove some there would be no weight savings.

No alt? ummmm , bad idea unless its a 3 lap sprint in a 1/4 mi track , the computer will shut down at 10 volts i believe , i put mine on a switch so for the last 2 laps i can make a dash for it ( 1993 E-LX Ministock on asphalt ) even with a fully charged battery you would be lucky to make it 6-8 laps before it just shuts down.

the bare min items that need to run are :
Fuel pump
Rad fan
ECU
Edis/coil

if your running a 3rd gen you may want to leave the VSS in an hooked up , some ECU's use the VSS to adjust fuel/timing also ( i dont remember if the 3rd gens do or not )

oh an get an SCT flash tune for that pig

^I thought about saying that after I posted. The Alt. doesn't take much power away from the engine anyway.

Somebody on here will know the size. You could try one for a 93 Escort 1.9 w/o PS & A/C. If its to big get one the next size smaller.

the 3rd gen's alt pully diameter is smaller to that of a 2nd gen.

you may want the P/S though .... even on a asphalt track there are days im glad i do have it . crash avoidance is much easier. keeps the fast steering response .
