The wires are cut on my backup light switch after it comes out the tranny, and just bundled up. Where does the connector plug into? I've been searching and have no idea. I'm hoping I can wire the end back on instead of buying a new switch.
    Thanks,
    Frito

I still need help so I can pass inspection. Attached is an image to show what I'm asking. The part circled in red is what is cut off on my car. I need to know where it connects to. Any help is much appreciated. This is driving me insane. Thanks.

that is your positive and negative posts. this is from when i did my auto to 5speed swap. the pins will be the same. the second photo is the auto harness and that color coding may differ. but it's work putting a multi meter on to test.

i think the other two wires are part of the clutch kill. but don't quote me on that.

I went through the Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual, looking for the wire and connector coming from the transmission, and what it connected to, and what it was called. It was a 1991 EVTM. I didnt find the thing mentioned yet, nor depicted anywhere. I see the replacement one from rockauto has 4 wires in the connector - so I wonder what they are all for. My only 91 Escort is an LX with an automatic transmission. My only 5-speed Escorts is a 94LX. It seems like the original connection to that goody on the transmission might have come from a wiring bundle that runs down beside the radiator, on the driver's side.

ITS FIXED! The connector on the other end was cut off too. I found the wires taped up in a bundle EXACTLY where you guys said/showed they should be.
1WPdfzPN.jpg 1IioR1ts.jpg I unwrapped the tape and found 3 wires bundled up. Black with Blue stripe, Black with Red stripe, and a smaller Red with Green stripe. The small Red /w Green stripe wire was the one for the Backup lights. I had 3 wires coming from the backup switch 2 green, 1 blue. I didn't use the blue wire.

All I had to do was wire up 1 Green wire to power, and the other Green wire to the small Red /w Green stripe.
Thank you so much for the help! Now she should be able to pass inspection!

And thank you for the feedback. Nice to know your Escort will be back on the road!

But now we get to ponder - what is that unused blue wire for???
