well if your serious about stickin to honda then a crx with a B20 w/vtec would be a nasty swap to do , ive run against one here in ontario an its nuckin futs , if your sticking with the ford just locate a running spi or swap a zetec or KLZE/DE motor in it , in all honesty i'd go DE just for the fact their more plentiful , an all motor DE or ZE is a beast on its own.

these guys just want you to be realistic with your goals though , yea bXX in a escort would be interesting but how much time effort an $$ are you willing to dump into it to achieve that honda powered goal , when you could spend a 1/3rd of that an do the swaps mentioned

in the end its your car an your $$ , you can take the advice given by all that have posted or ignore it .

what ever you choose good luck.

The 1.8 is actually a Mazda engine, it just has a Ford valve cover.

If you have the two cars, I say go for it.......

Your on an escort forum, almost everyone will favor the idea of keeping the stock motor and modding it, or swapping to another ford motor.

It is beyond easy to make engine mounts and get the engine/trans in the hole.. A couple scrap pieces of sheet steel and a welder for the mounts.. Swap over the engine harness/ecu ect... Use the stock escort susp/hubs.. You can have a set of custom axles made at a shop for around 100 bucks in my area, and that by far will be the hardest part... But in reality it is all EASY.. Mounts are easy, swaping wiring is easy.. Axle shop can take care of the custom CV's for you.

Usually what makes swaps like this rediculous is the cost of the parts being put into it, but having them already (aside from axles and $25 in metal for mounts) I say if its something you want to do go for it..
You just get a lot of haters of honda (which coming from an escort forum makes me laugh a little), and people who have never done full swaps that think its some rediculous task when its not.
    It's got my vote.

You might get lucky with trying to swap the entire subframe/engine cradle from the Honda to the Escort instead of trying to fab up motor mounts. If you look under the cars, the design is similar. If you got both cars up in the air, you might be able to see if it is possible. If it is, you saved yourself some welding and fabricating just to drill a few holes. You'll never know unless you try. They still put Chevy motors in Ford cars.
