i hope this has been done before if not then i want to be the first. civics are mad high for me. my 97 lx threw a rod at my neighbor and i could get a wrecked ls front end for alot less than the whole car.
    1. good idea i think since it is aftermarket friendly and can be made stronger.
    2. should i try really this?
    3. 160hp+ sounds alot better than 130hp
    4. id need everything forward the steering wheel right?

Your asking about putting a Honda engine in a Ford/Mazda? Good job thinking outside the box, but it seems like too muck work...good luck. Drop in a BP or KL, much more straight forward.

    1) Your LX doesn't make 130hp. Try 88hp.
    2) The B18B doesn't make 160hp. Try 140hp at best.

the stock 2.0L SPI is 110HP actually.

swapping a honda engine would be a lot more trouble than it is worth. The HP gain would not make the swap worth while. Depending on the state you live in, some BP's and KL's would not be allowed. Some states require the engine to be the same age or newer than your car.

if you want to swap a different engine in, you can swap a 2.0L Zetec. Not too much mod work involved, and it will give you 132HP. They are easy to mod, so you can squeeze even more power out of them.

Wow, I totally missed the fact that it is a 3rd gen. Yeah a built 2.0 is the best bet.

it would be funny novelty wise ( especially since there are some honda haters here  ) but it would be too much work for any gains you get in my opinion

Hey, if it were easy, i would totally swap a Honda B-series into an Escort. Great motors, and it would be epically hilarious.

yeah, honda engines r built backwards from what the escort engines have. meaning the engine is on the driver side and the tranny sits on the passenger side of the car and the motor mounts r also on the opposite sides. if ur willing to weld in new motor mounts and modify the frame, driveline, shift link, wires and ecu, more power to ya. IMHO i don't see this possible cuz of the driveline, axles, struts and hobs being completely different.

when i said 130 i meant the zetec motor initially. my escort had 110 not 88 but now it has 0.
and a b18b starts off maybe at 140hp but im meant after a cat-back and intake. but the feedback is nice considering the thoughtless idea. im gonna go with a zetec maybe after my supra purchase.

B18B is jdm spec ls, 142hp to the crank, you're not getting 20hp from intake and catback. And if you did, it still wouldnt be 140 to the wheels.

Get realistic, put a zetec, bp, kl in it, a stock bp escort rapes B18A/B all day.

If you want a B18, sell ur car as is and buy a $500 DA9

i'd say to get a crx and do a b series hybrid. i've heard a b18 block with a b16 head is a great combination.

if you want a honda in an escort which is pointless why not just buy a teg or civic do a b18b i agree honda engines are nice and highly upgradable but then why ruin a honda engine or escort in this swap just get a civic or teg and plus if you're talking about going with a supra WHY would you even go back to these the 1jzgtte or 2jzgtte so so huge into after market parts this swap would be pointless to you and a waste of time and money so if you really want to do a motor swap in the escort being a 97 do a zx2 swap or the focus zetec swap easier pepole know about it and its keeping it ford you never degrade car companies by switching them around with other companies!!! plus i'm a honda guy or used to be if you want help on like a honda build p me and i could help or doing the escort you have this whole forum of experts i sure many pepople have helped me in the forum so their advise is wise

    so

    1. Not a good idea
    2. You should not try this at all
    3. Yeah sounds better but why not updgrade one and be realistic
    4. Just get a honda or stick with your escort or not do either and go with your supra purchase

Just a food for thought thread that got a little sarcastic. There are better things to do than ever put a honda engine in one of these...
