well, it depends what you want to do. performance - street strip economy which? these are all things to keep in mind. No one setup is "right". yeah, a high stall converter will get you out of the hole quicker, but will kill your fuel economy. so to answer your original question, There is a lot that any performance shop can do from drilling out valve bodies to blocking accumulator springs - if you want it to shift in a snap they can make it happen. but just remember, you have to live with what you get done so make sure you want the 3500 stall converter and tire chirping shifts that don't happen until the engine sees the top side of 4000 rpm no matter how gentle you are on the gas before you tell them do it.
