New to Escorts and to this site. ´91 Escort LX with 108,000 mi. Had it for a year, never a problem, now when it gets warm, it downshifts for no reason. Driving along the interstate, 70mph, it down shifts! No warning and no other symptoms. It only does it when fully warm and only occasionally. Thoughts? Thanks guys.

As always first thing you should do is check the fluid. Thats a given. Also I´m not sure if the 91´s had kick down cables or not, but if so check to make sure it is secure. The Kickdown cable tells the tranny how far you have the pedal down and tells the tranny to downshift on hard acceleration. It may need to be adjusted.
